Since my parents neither own a computer nor know how to really navigate one, I feel safe posting this: The very first weekend my freshman year of college in Bloomington, I got a minor-consumption ticket from the fuzz at a drunk-driving checkpoint. (No, I wasn't driving.)
Cost me $300 and a year of probation in Brown County, Ind. Not to mention a day-long alcohol education class (which I endured through a massive hangover). But I never told them about it and they still don't know.
Coltrane's take on "My Favorite Things," especially live versions. I've got one from a 1961 show at Birdland that is sublime. If McCoy Tyner's piano doesn't fill you with holiday cheer, it's likely nothing will, my friends.

To the Cincinnati airport (which is in Kentucky, by the way) from Fort Wayne International Airport (which is in Fort Wayne, by the way), en route to Jackson Hole, Wyoming, for Spring Break. From Salt Lake City to Jackson Hole, we had to take a little single-engine puddle-jumper over the mountains. It was interesting.
